Kimberly Dimattio

Founder of anai candles

Growing up in New York City, I always dreamed of owning a studio here. I admired small businesses and had a deep desire to create products that were made in NY. At 26, I worked at a small startup tech company with a team of just five people, where I truly got to experience what it’s like to build something from the ground up. I gained invaluable knowledge on how to operate and grow a business, but over time, I lost my passion investing so much time and dedication into something that wasn’t my own.

I had always been drawn to starting a candle brand, so I became obsessed with studying scents. I carried a notebook everywhere, jotting down fragrance ideas and combinations as they came to me. After spending years perfecting the process and learning from my mistakes, I launched Anai shortly after turning 29. I was determined to create products of the highest quality.

As the business grew, I quickly realized the demand for custom products. Instead of focusing solely on my own candle line, I pivoted to offer custom branding and fragrances for other NY-based businesses looking to create their own signature scents. This shift allowed me to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and help bring their unique visions to life, designing something new and different for every customer.

Today, with over 8 years in business, I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with a diverse range of brands. My passion for unique fragrances and design is reflected in the quality of my work, and I believe it’s important to love what you do. I’m proud to help others create memorable products that leave a lasting impression.
